Tony Knight, a comedian and dog lover, died unexpectedly in a strange accident. A family member said he passed away in June while at the Rock ‘n’ Cars Festival in Lavaur, France.
He was just 54 years old and enjoying himself.
The family member mentioned that Tony was fit, healthy, and happy, and he was loved by his partner Hayley, his family, and friends around the world.
French media reports that Tony was the only one hurt when a big tree branch fell on him and five other people. He later died from his injuries. Local authorities are looking into the accident.
Fans of the comedian expressed their sadness on social media. One person wrote on Facebook, “It’s upsetting to hear about Tony Knight. Tragic events are hard to process. We should remember how much joy and laughter his comedy brought to people.”
Another said, “It’s crazy how you never know when or how your last day will come. It’s really shocking. Rest in peace. My thoughts are with your friends and family.”
Tony’s partner, Hayley Wright, started a GoFundMe page in his memory to help pay for funeral and hospital costs. By July 5, the page had raised over $8,000 of the $20,000 goal.
Before his death, Tony had been getting ready for a comedy tour in the UK. He was also known for his love of dogs and called himself a “dog listener” on his website. Hayley’s sister noted on the GoFundMe page that Tony helped people worldwide learn how to communicate better with their pets.
The comedian was about to start a UK comedy tour called Mad Dogs and an Englishman, which was also set to be part of the Edinburgh Fringe. The show was billed as “The world’s first-ever comedy show about dog behavior. Stand up (and sit).”
Our thoughts and prayers are with his grieving family. May he rest in peace.
