Kate Beckinsale opens up about six-week hospitalization – ‘Grief had burned a hole in my oesophagus’

Kate Beckinsale has now responded to the endless speculation following her and her prolonged hospital stay earlier this year. She had an outburst where she explained everything to those speculating.

What prompted all of this was a comment on a recent Instagram post which read, “Go do some squats @katebeckinsale. “I think ur a** ran away.

“No, actually, I watched my stepfather die quite shockingly, my mother has stage 4 cancer, and I lost a lot of weight from stress and grief, quite quickly,” Beckinsale wrote back in her scathing reply; she went on, “and then I was in hospital for six weeks because the grief had burned a hole in my oesophagus which made me vomit copious amounts of blood, and I found eating very hard and I just worked very very hard on a movie that was actually quite triggering because it also involved the theme of the death of my father so l’m not really concerned about what you think about my a**.”

The actress clearly had had enough because she went on to write, “Maybe you should worry about your own f**king a**. I suggest shoving something up it-like a large pineapple or a brick.”

The comment was left on a video Beckinsale posted earlier in the week of her in front of a mirror putting on a hair net in a pink off-shoulder top with matching bottoms. In the video, she comments on her followers who “get themselves really upset” because they deem her actions not appropriate for her age.

“For those of you who are gonna get off on this,” she says at the end of the video, “have at it, b**ches.”

Beckinsale lost her stepfather, Roy Battersby, in January this year. He was 87 years old at the time of this death. Two months after the loss, the actress was in the hospital but did not disclose the reason for her hospital stay.

“Kate Beckinsale hasn’t been doing or feeling well. She was supposed to go to the Vanity Fair Oscars party and had to cancel,” a source revealed at the time. “She is doing her best to take care of herself, but it’s not a great situation.”

She has recently spoken up about being accused of undergoing plastic surgery. She said in a post which has since then been deleted, “I am accused of having had unrecognisable surgery/using Botox using fillers/being obsessed with looking younger, and it’s really such a tiresome and subtly vicious way to bully a person.”

The 50-year-old actress talked about the anxieties she has suffered from in her younger years because of what critics would say about her.

“Life happens -obviously I have aged, everybody ages; I’m not too concerned about aging-because I found my father dead at the age of 5, I spent most of my teenage years and a good deal of my 20s absolutely crippled with severe anxiety and panic attacks that I was going to die of a heart attack too, and went to emergency rooms often, and was almost, at that time of my life, completely immobilised by that anxiety,” she shared.

“The fact that one of the major things I am bullied about is an assumption that I can’t handle the idea of getting older is so deeply ironic when my all consuming terror was that I never thought I’d even see the end of my 20s.”
